Scout Troop Announcement
On Dec. 20, 2022, Park Avenue Boy Scout Troop 415 held a Casing of the Colors ceremony, held in connection with a joint Court of Honor with Troop 491 (sponsored by St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church). This ceremony symbolized the official closing of the charter of Troop 415, which was originally chartered by Park Avenue Methodist Church in April 1956 (along with Cub Scout Pack 415).
Over many decades, Troop 415 has produced at least 90 Eagle Scouts, including several former and current church members and leaders (memorialized by the plaques hanging outside the Fellowship Hall). After the discontinuation of the Pack 415 feeder program about five years ago, the eventual closing of the troop was inevitable. Current scouts will complete their scouting journeys through support of Troop 491. The Colors will be maintained by Troop 491 at St. John until when/if Troop 415 is rechartered.
On behalf of the members, alumni, volunteers and leaders of Troop 491, we would like to thank Park Avenue Church for its many decades of support and sponsorship, which has positively impacted many generations of young men to become good citizens and community leaders.
